Active Project Proposal Discussion
- Revision of VNF Event Stream
Bryan (AT&T) reported that he reached out to potential contributors.
Alok (AT&T) described the framework and details of event data model, and answered questions regarding data format (name/value pair) and extensibility across domains.
Bryan explained the architecture diagram, and how the framework will facilitate collecting data, and interacting with OpenStack through VES Plugin in OpenStack, and with other OPNFV projects. It won't change anything in OpenStack, or other OPNFV projects. If a project chooses, it can use VES but not mandatory.
Alok will show a demo in OPNFV Summit.
Bryan and Alok talked about different mechanisms of implementing the interface, such as a universal bus. And VES Collector, VNFs, hosts and bare metals will listen to bus.
Bryan further clarified that existing monitoring agent is no longer necessary. We can use the generic framework, and there are various implementation choices. Our objective is to make those OpenStack projects and OPNFV projects' job easier, and add value to those projects.
Bryan indicated that we are looking for contributors.
Regarding the question of tenant isolation, data streams from different tenants will be isolated / not shared. VES Collector will listen to management interface of VES Agent.
The group reached the consensus to recommend it for TSC Creation Review.
