Active Project Proposal Discussion
Giuseppe (Fraunhofer) started that in Berlin, we already introduced OpenBaton's modular platform, which is easily doable with Doctor, Promise etc. projects in OPNFV. The approach includes the gap analysis for integration, testing scenarios, etc. The idea is to integrate with OPNFV, and develop extended use cases in autoscaling and fault management, and information model and FuncTest for interoperability testing.
Prakash (Huawei) asked how do you expect to integrate? Giuseppe said that they discussed with Gerald and Carlos, and will start with integrating with fault management (Doctor) and resource management (Promise) for autoscaling.
Prakash further asked how do you see the difference from other monitoring engine in telemetry and VES etc? Giuseppe said that those monitoring engines are on the left side of the diagram, and we are on the right side providing interface and connect with those various monitoring systems.
Dave (RedHat) asked what does FM mean? Giuseppe said Fault Management.
Dave further asked if there is a parser of descriptors. Giuseppe clarified that descriptors are in JSON.
Dave asked what is the info model? Giuseppe said they follow ETSI specs.
Dave asked if they are planning to be involved in Info Model project. Giuseppe said yes, and they are working with Bryan Sullivan on it.
Prakash asked if they plan to develop use cases. Giuseppe said they will start with Doctor and Promise project for use cases. They will analyze more projects for more use cases.
Brian (Intel) asked what about physical node under network slicing engine? Giuseppe clarified that NS actually manage those physical resources.
Brian asked what does Open Baton installer mean for OPNFV? Giuseppe answered that it is a way they would like to integrate with OPNFV. Maybe the name is not accurate. They don't know details of OPNFV installers. But the idea is to make Open Baton be part of installation and deployment process of OPNFV.
Brian suggested to re-word it something like "integrate into one or more OPNFV installers to be part of installation process".
Bryan (AT&T) said the good thing is the messaging queue based monitoring system. Bryan would like to work together on Model project.
Brian also suggested to add dependencies on FuncTest and Yardstick, and perhaps more dependencies, similar to what Open-O integration project identified.
Prakash suggest to add in the scope the development of use cases to guide tests.
Three Actions for Giuseppe are:
- Re-word the installer part to be something like "integrate into one or more OPNFV installers to be part of installation process"
- Look into and list more dependencies, such as FuncTest and Yardstick, and more
- add in the scope the development of use cases to guide tests
Group achieved the consensus to recommend it for TSC Creation Review.
- AOB (Agenda Item)
Prakash said MANO WG has a dedicated channel available. Bryan will send a message to community to ask projects to join MANO WG call. It will be 9am Monday, and 5pm Monday if needed.
