For the E-release, FastDataStacks plans to release the following scenarios

  • OpenStack - FD.io (with and without HA):
    • os-nosdn-fdio-noha
    • os-nosdn-fdio-ha
  • OpenStack - OpenDaylight (layer2 and layer 3) - FD.io:
    • The scenarios will use OpenDaylight to configure layer 2 and layer 3 networking
    • The scenarios will offer a solution for fully distributed routing (DVR) as well as classic centralized routing
    • The scenarios will offer a solution for IPv6 only operation
    • The scenarios will support HA and no HA configuration (OS HA as well as ODL clustering)
      • os-odl-fdio-noha
      • os-odl-fdio-ha
      • os-odl-fdio-dvr-noha
      • os-odl-fdio-dvr-ha
      • os-odl-fdio-dvr-ipv6-noha
      • os-odl-fdio-dvr-ipv6-ha
  • OpenStack - OpenDaylight (GBP+Netvirt integrated) - FD.io:
Integration of Netvirt+GBP for ELAN service (prototype/PoC) - as created and demonstrated at the OpenStack summit in Boston, May 2017.

In addition, as part of the work on E1.0, FastDataStacks will also integrate with

  • NFVbench (initially for os-nosdn-fdio-noha)
  • VINA (initially for os-nosdn-fdio-noha)

Evolution to Euphrates, FDS Microreleases

Evolution to Euphrates 1.0 (E1.0): FastDataStacks will evolve to E 1.0 with a series of "micro-releases". FDS will create a micro-release roughly every months. Micro-releases are to publish the most recent work/results of FDS.

FDS release numbering will follow the main logic of OPNFV releases. FDS x.y - with x being the major release (e.g. 4 represents Danube, 5 Euphrates) and y increments on the major release. Note that for y > 3, FDS might already leverage upstream versions different than what was chosen for the main release.

FDS micro-releases are defined through:

  • Relevant git repositories (FDS, APEX) labeled
  • Documentation of what is released (light-weight - developer focused, not consumer focused):
    • Description/documentation of the scenario(s) which are released
    • Release notes for the scenarios (test results /  open JIRA tickets)
  • Pointers to release artifacts (iso image)

The following new scenarios are planned for micro-releases:

  • Danube 3.0 - also FDS 4.3 (sometime in June - or even early July)
    • os-nosdn-fdio-ha
  • Early August (FDS 4.4)
    • os-odl-fdio-dvr-noha
    • os-odl-netvirt-gbp-fdio-noha
  • Early September (FDS 4.5)
    • os-odl-fdio-dvr-ha (enhanced DVR, will include DNAT as well as HA - both OpenStack and ODL clustering)
    • os-odl-fdio-dvr-ipv6-noha
    • os-odl-fdio-dvr-ipv6-ha
    • container-stack (tentative)
  • Sept/25 - Euphrates 5.0 (FDS 5.0)
    • os-nosdn-fdio-noha
    • os-nosdn-fdio-ha
    • os-odl-fdio-noha (ODL for L2 and L3)
    • os-odl-fdio-ha (ODL for L2 and L3)
    • os-odl-fdio-dvr-noha
    • os-odl-fdio-dvr-ha
    • os-odl-fdio-dvr-ipv6-noha
    • os-odl-fdio-dvr-ipv6-ha
    • container-stack (tentative)
